COMMENT: A couple of years ago Joe Gold, bodybuilding pioneer, passed away at the age of 82. In 1977 the bodybuilding documentary “Pumping Iron” made Gold’s Gym famous and jump-started Arnold Schwarzenegger’s film career. Mr. Gold is one of the reasons why many Americans have an obsession with a “great body”. Recently I read some additional information about the world’s preoccupation with the “outer man”. More men are going under the plastic surgeon’s knife than ever before. Liposuction surgery, hair transplants and even calf and pectoral implants are becoming more popular with the male species. Because we live in this society, it is so easy to get caught up in this body beautification craze. I grant you the fact that the body of a born again Christian is the temple of God because the Holy Spirit dwells in us; therefore, we should take good care of it. However, like everything else in the world, we should not become mesmerized by it because it is only temporary and will soon fade away. As children of God, our main concern should be the fortification and building up of that inner man with the word of God. That is the only way we can lead a successful and overcoming life. Compared to eternity,  life on earth is extremely brief.
POST SCRIPT: I confess that I go to Gold’s Gym every other day; however, you couldn’t tell it by looking at me.

Revelation 12:11 “And they overcame him (Satan) by the blood
of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony …and they did not love their lives to the death””

You know sometimes things can be right in front of our eyes and we can’t see it.  Happens all of the time.  I find myself watching certain movies more than once and everytime…everytime seeing something or hearing something for what seems like the “first” time.

And so…I look at Revelation 12:  11  It’s talking about something that already happened…but it’s a description about the future.  It’s one of those Gold Nuggets or gems that the bible holds for believers.  An unbeliever isn’t going to think that it makes sense.  To them it would be like finding a winning lottery ticket for a date that hasn’t come yet.  For real.  But for you…it is put there not to tell us just about how Satan can finally be defeated in the end times to be locked up for a thousand years…but also to tell us what to do when we face our greatest adversities!

It tells us two things :  that we overcome Satan…out man him…our adversary…our enemy…with THE BLOOD OF JESUS  …(and notice the conjunctive word or the bridge…)  AND  the word of our testimony…

The Blood of Jesus brings the victory…we know that part…but at the SAME TIME so also does our sharing our testimony…it brings the Blessing and not in any way that we can understand….just like pleading The Blood of Jesus brings victory, certainty and peace…so also does a simple thing like sharing our testimony!

After a horribly long brain surgery…I survived.  Though there are no signs of it now…I was left paralyzed on the left side of my body, with a unfaltering stutter , poor vision, not able to walk and amidst many skeptics.

So with that in mind…a wonderful group of Jehovah’s witnesses rang my doorbell.  I invited them all in…and they seemed quite comfortable in my Living room to hear my testimony about the Glory and the Goodness of God!

I’m sure they wondered how could I praise Him so passionately…for letting me live when I did not come out of the surgery perfect?  In fact, it would be a few more years before I would fully recover…but God did some outstanding things with me…during those times.

They didn’t get to see the full outcome…they never came back…yet I could see in their eyes…their being inspired by someone who wasn’t ashamed to declare God good!  Oh it was amazing to be used as a vessel to spread a message of hope, thankfulness, gratitude…

We all have work to do…so I ask God that He anoint each of us…to share our testimonies…with others…in this Holy Season…in Jesus Name.  So Be It!

Halloween Is Upon Us by Gene McGuire October, 2013

Helloween
EDITOR’S NOTE:  IF YOU BELIEVE HALLOWEEN IS SUGAR AND SPICE AND EVERYTHING NICE AND A BIG BALL OF FUN; YOU HAVE A LOT TO  LEARN!
HALLOWEEN IS UPON US
Once again people are carving pumpkins, dunking apples and dressing up like witches and goblins. Setting aside my disdain for this unholy holiday, Halloween is upon us. On this special day, participants want to appear to be something they are not, so they change their appearances with masks and costumes. For these revelers this make believe occurs just once a year. However, there is a group of people who wear their disguises 365 days a year. . . .they have their Christian disguises.
All of these pretenders don’t disguise themselves to the same extent. There are some folks who wear a full mask and a costume that covers their entire body. If you were to go home with them after church on a Sunday, or after choir rehearsal, you wouldn’t recognize them at all; in fact, you would think that you had surely come upon the reincarnation of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde — except for the fact that you don’t believe in reincarnation. The warm, loving saintly person at church has been transformed into a cold, wrath-filled, selfish individual. At this point you may be breathing a sigh of relief saying: “Thank goodness Gene’s not talking about me.”  However, at the other end of the spectrum you find the person who only wears a face mask –not unlike the Lone Ranger‘s. This individual is rather consistent in his or her Christian walk but there is some unconfessed sin in his life he’s tenaciously holding onto. In between these two extremes, there are people wearing a variety of pretentious garb.
It is my understanding that God knows we will not live perfectly sinless lives. He made a
provision for us in 1 John 1:9, ‘IF WE CONFESS OUR SINS, HE IS FAITHFUL AND JUST TO FORGIVE US OUR SINS AND TO CLEANSE US OF ALL UNRIGHTEOUSNESS”. However, I do believe that He demands that we be perfectly yielded to Him. When we are perfectly yielded to The Father, we will ask Him to take away anything in our lives which does not glorify Him and we will pray that His will be done in our lives. As you know, God’s goal is to transform us into the image of His Son Jesus, from glory to glory by the Holy Spirit. (2 Cor. 3:18) This is accomplished as we maintain that attitude of yieldedness.
Now Fellow Saints, if you can truthfully say “What you see is what you get!!” I want to thank you for your indulgence and patience in reading his Newsletter. . . .this message wasn’t for you. But as for the rest of us, if we are wearing a face mask, a cover all costume, or anything in between, the Lord would have us to yield to Him TOTALLY. Our deception may fool our fellowman, but it’s ridiculous to think that we can fool Almighty God. His unwillingness to accept half-way measures is exemplified in Rev. 3:16:“BECAUSE YOU ARE LUKEWARM AND NEITHER COLD NOR HOT, I WILL SPEW YOU OUT OF MY MOUTH”.

“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before a fall.’ (Proverbs 16:18)
COMMENT: Boy oh boy. . . Madison Avenue is really trying to hook us by appealing to our pride. There’s a Rolex Watch commercial that ends with this phrase: “SEE WHAT THIS WATCH CAN SAY ABOUT YOU!”  Locally, a newspaper ad marketing new condominiums has the following as its heading: “MAKE AN IMPRESSION”. On TV you will find Lexus automobile dealers asking us: “WANT TO MAKE A GOOD

FIRST IMPRESSION?”  We live in this world and if we are not careful, we too, can get caught up in the frenzy of trying to impress others with “things”. Remember what Jesus said about chasing after the things of the world in the Parable of the Sower? “Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the Word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the Word, and he becomes unfruitful.” (Matthew 13:22)

Blood Bought Independence; Don’t Walk Away! July, 2013

Imagine a man or woman with freedom or independence who lets someone talk them into giving it up.  This is what happens when believers of Christ walk away.   It can be done in such a way that it truly makes sense and people can become blinded to the truth.   We come against such notions and actions in prayer in Jesus Name.  He shed his blood for the remission of our sins and it will not be wasted!

Revelation 3:20 Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

Blood Currency! June, 2013

When I was in kindergarten, they said that one day I would graduate from high school.  It seemed a long ways off.  I had no proof that would happen.  No promise that I would even live that long\, but sure enough one day I did.   The same thing happened with marriage and having children and many of the milestones in my life.  There was a time that I could see none of these things; but they all came to pass.  I had faith for them to happen.  Well I have been told that  I will be given eternal life after I gave my heart to Jesus and made him my Lord and Savior.  I have faith to believe that.

So many people do not understand why followers of Christ embrace the Blood of Jesus which they cannot see.  I see it everywhere I go.  I see it over my bed, around m house around my family, around my car, anywhere I am led to put it.  It is my protection, my defense, it is the currency that was necessary to save me from the pit of hell.

Romans 3:25 states, “Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through FAITH IN HIS BLOOD, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God.”
