A True ” Who Dunit ?” by Gene McGuire August, 2011

“Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” (Galations 5:1)

COMMENT: A couple of days ago, as I read an article about a pastor in Florida, my heart sunk. 42 year old  Rev. Zachery Tims, Jr., the leader of an 8,000-member ministry was discovered dead in a Times Square hotel room in New York. Police found a glassine envelope with a white powdery substance inside the right pocket of his shorts. The detectives found no signs of robbery or trauma to his body. Tims was a young drug addict in Maryland when he was “miraculously saved” according to his website and a memoir published in 2006. He earned degrees in accounting and theology and worked at a ministry in Baltimore. In 1996, he and his wife Riva moved to Orlando, where they founded the New Destiny Christian Center. My heart goes out to the Pastor’s family and also to his congregation. Unfortunately, there will be some of those 8,000 members who will turn away from the Faith because of this incident. I am especially touched because I have seen this situation replicated many times through my association with ex-offenders. The devil is always working hard to get us back into his evil clutches after the Lord has given us deliverance.  Of course you are aware that we are not just talking about drugs; our enemy is continually working to have his way with us regardless as to what the transgression is.

Over the weekend I would like to give you my opinion as to what we Christians can do in order to combat the evil one in his quest to corral us.
