Resisting A Fallen Angel! What A Wimp! by Gene McGuire May, 2011

Editor’s Note:   The devil is merely a fallen angel…cast out from heaven…evicted…and you believer must remember:   he’s a wimp!
“Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (James 4:7)
COMMENT: I don’t know about you, but I truly hate snakes with a vengeance.  I think that emotional condition may have been “inherited” from my mother because she made known her loathing of those reptiles most clear. I don’t understand how Eve could stand still to have a conversation with that slimy serpent. Well, that’s material for some future message. Cutting to the chase, a couple of years ago I had an encounter with two black snakes in my front yard. I killed one by repeatedly hitting him with a shovel. With each blow I let out a loud scream as if that noise would strengthen my blows the way some professional tennis players do.  I was told that I had to smash his head and I did; however he was still moving so I poured bleach over him to make sure the deed was done. The next morning I looked out my side door and saw another black snake about three feet from his deceased friend. I guess he was there for the wake.(I began to wonder if some State in the North East had passed a “same snake marriage law”.) Well, I got out my trusty shovel and went after that sinister creature, but he was too slippery for me and got away. I made a firm decision that I would not be bothered by the reptile kingdom anymore. I hastened to Lowe’s and purchased “Snake-A-Way”, a granular substance that you can spread around the foundation of your house making you “snake-free”. Even though the devil doesn’t show up to us as a reptile anymore, the Scriptures tell us that he is still around and, along with the world and our flesh, he attempts to lead us down a sinful path. Well, there is such a thing as “Spiritual Snake-A-Way” available to us Christians. It is called prayer and meditating on the Word of God. Believe me, the devil will flee!
